SRM 2.0 and 2.0.1 · Updated 4 November 2026

Contact the developer of Sight Reading Machine at hello@sightreadingmachine.com about this policy or your data.

Your music stays with you

Exercises are generated and played on your device. SRM does not listen to, record or upload your playing. Your saved music and Continue configuration stay on the device. Presets stay local unless you choose to sync or export them. Preset files contain the settings you choose to export; you decide whom to share them with.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync with Plus or Classic, your saved presets are stored through Apple's iCloud key-value service using your iCloud account. SRM has no separate account or sign-in service. Continue, generated music, practice history and purchase records are not synced by SRM. Turning sync off stops future syncing; it does not itself delete existing iCloud records. Delete a preset with sync enabled to sync its deletion.

Purchases

Apple handles payments and purchase restoration. SRM uses verified App Store transaction information to provide Plus or Classic access and caches entitlement status for offline use. We do not receive your payment-card details or Apple Account password.

App analytics and your choice

SRM 2.0.1 and later: App analytics are enabled by default unless you previously turned them off. The Share app analytics switch in Settings controls all remote product analytics, crash reports and reliability sessions together. Your choice is saved on this installation and is read before either telemetry service starts. Turning it off stops new remote telemetry; requests already sent cannot be recalled. It does not delete records already received. Necessary feature requests, including StoreKit and optional iCloud sync, are unaffected.

Earlier SRM 2.0: Usage analytics start off, and technical diagnostics and reliability sessions operate independently of the usage-analytics switch. Updating to 2.0.1 preserves any saved analytics choice; the combined switch then controls all remote analytics and diagnostics.

While enabled, SRM sends selected product events to PostHog EU Cloud to help us understand app use, activation, retention, reliability and purchases. These include app launches and foreground returns, screens visited, exercise/preset/import/export/sync actions, instrument and grade selections, broad style and customisation settings, paywall and purchase outcomes, Free/Plus/Classic access and technical app/device versions. We do not backfill activity from while the switch was off.

Events use a random installation Support ID so we can correlate product events with technical support reports. This is pseudonymous information, not anonymous data. SRM does not sync this ID through iCloud or link it to an SRM account. Analytics exclude preset names and contents, imported files, music, audio, receipts and Apple Account details. Screen recording, session replay, automatic text/touch capture, advertising tracking and location enrichment are disabled. PostHog privacy information.

Crash diagnostics and reliability

While the same switch is enabled, SRM uses BugSnag to diagnose crashes and technical errors, including score-rendering failures. Reports contain app/device/operating-system versions, crash stack frames, fixed error categories, safe script locations, coarse rendering context, a limited trail of recent app actions and the random Support ID shown in Settings. Purchase-verification diagnostics contain fixed outcomes and the current Free, Plus or Classic access category; they never include receipts, transaction or Apple Account identifiers, original purchase dates or original app-version details.

Reliability sessions record app launches and returns after at least30 seconds in the background, with timestamps, technical app/device details and the same random Support ID, to calculate crash-free session and installation rates. In SRM 2.0.1 and later, both session and error delivery stop when you turn off Share app analytics. Local diagnostic or crash records may remain on your device; reports from the off period are rejected if you later re-enable telemetry. Older reports recorded while enabled may retry only while telemetry is enabled. Already transmitted records are not deleted by changing the switch.

Automatic breadcrumbs and vendor internal telemetry are disabled. Reports exclude raw error text, imported-document paths, music, preset names/files, audio, hardware identifiers and Apple Account details. Service providers receive network connection information when the app contacts them. BugSnag privacy information.

Support, retention and choices

If you email us, we receive your address and anything you choose to send so we can respond. Please avoid sending sensitive information unnecessarily. We use service providers to operate analytics and diagnostics; we do not sell your data or use it for cross-app advertising.

Local information remains until you delete it or remove the app, subject to device backups. iCloud data is subject to your Apple account and backup settings. Analytics, diagnostics and support correspondence are kept only as needed to operate and improve SRM, respond to support and meet legal obligations, subject to provider retention settings. We will confirm the applicable retention and deletion options when you contact us.

You can ask for access, correction or deletion at hello@sightreadingmachine.com. To help us locate an installation's diagnostics and analytics, you can copy its Support ID from Settings and include it in your request. We cannot identify those records from a name or email alone. We will explain what we can identify and remove. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing or complain to a data-protection authority.

SRM does not knowingly request personal information from children. Parents or guardians can contact us with concerns. Changes to this policy will be published here with an updated date.
